چکیده
Food webs learning using the Snap! is one of strategies that are expected to help improve students' computational thinking. For students, this strategy were something new and can cause Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL). The purpose study was identify ECL in food web develop thinking skills. research method used a pre-experimental design with modified from an iterative action design. sampling technique purposive sampling. sample consisted 30 seventh grade students at SMPN 2 Bandung. instrument student mental effort questionnaire measure ECL, field notes, test. Based on results study, relatively low increased each meeting, except for second meeting. Students experience increase their skills after participating model. N-Gain analysis also show improvement moderate category quite effective.

Exploring Core Cognitive Skills of Computational Thinking
Although still innovative and not largely disseminated, Computational Thinking is being considered as a critical skill for students in the 21st century. It involves many skills, but programming abilities seem to be a core aspect since they foster the development of a new way of thinking that is key to the solution of problems that require a combination of human mental power and computing power ...
متن کاملThinking and doing in cognitive archaeology: Giving skill its due
Wynn shows that intentionally standardized artifacts (handaxes) provide evidence of the ability to conceptualize form (symmetry). However, such conceptual ability is not sufficient for the actual production of these forms. Stone knapping is a concrete skill that is acquired in the real world. Appreciation of its perceptual-motor foundations and the broader issues surrounding skill acquisition m...
متن کاملReducing Cognitive Load and Fostering Cognitive Skill Acquisition: Benefits of Category-Avoiding Instructional Examples
In this paper, we provide evidence against the common idea that worked examples should be designed to convey problem categories and category-specific solution procedures. Instead we propose that instructional examples should be designed in a way that supports the understanding of relations between structural problem features and individual solution steps, i.e. relations that hold below the cate...
متن کاملThe INTERSPEECH 2014 computational paralinguistics challenge: cognitive & physical load
The INTERSPEECH 2014 Computational Paralinguistics Challenge provides for the first time a unified test-bed for the automatic recognition of speakers’ cognitive and physical load in speech. In this paper, we describe these two Sub-Challenges, their conditions, baseline results and experimental procedures, as well as the COMPARE baseline features generated with the openSMILE toolkit and provided...
متن کاملComputational thinking and thinking about computing
Computational thinking will influence everyone in every field of endeavour. This vision poses a new educational challenge for our society, especially for our children. In thinking about computing, we need to be attuned to the three drivers of our field: science, technology and society. Accelerating technological advances and monumental societal demands force us to revisit the most basic scienti...
